Job Description

Online Middle and High School Math Teacher .5 FTE


Immediate Supervisor:
Associate Director of Online Learning

Position Summary:
Middle and High School Math Teacher (grades 6-12) opening for the online program at Crosslake Community School for the school year 2024-2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning, organizing, and implementing appropriate instructional programs in a 6-12 grade school learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth
Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency with subject matter
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
Plans and delivers instruction for a variety of learners, ensuring that curriculum map and schedule are covered
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
Understands and uses assessment to promote student learning
Creates an environment that promotes respect, rapport, and learning
Establishes effective relationships with students
Communicates clear and consistent expectations for learning, behavior, and achievement
Monitors and manages student behavior effectively
Communicates effectively with families, students, and colleagues
Communicates student progress in a timely and thorough manner
Supports the mission and values of the school
Supports the programs and priorities of the department and school
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with staff, students, and parents
Maintains confidentiality
Demonstrates professional behavior
Seeks and develops opportunities for professional growth and development
Attends and participates in required meetings, school events, and committee work
Performs duties as required/requested
Provide academic subject instruction in math, ensuring that curriculum map and schedule are followed.
Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving student’s feedback on completed work to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner.
Confer with other teachers concerning cross-curricular opportunities.
Maintain grades and curriculum assessments online.
Collaborate as a team player with colleagues and administration; embrace school community
Evaluating student performance on labs, assignments, and projects
Other duties may be assigned.

Salary or Hourly Range:
Salary based on current Teacher Salary Grid

Current benefit package will be discussed during the interview process.

Work Schedule and Agreement:
Number of Days: 175 (Prorated for start dates after Teacher Workshop Week)
Hours per day: 8; general business hours are 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Expected Hours: School Days and Professional Development Days plus scheduled days in collaboration with the Seat-Based Director


Valid Minnesota Teaching License for the grade and content area assigned.
If no appropriate candidates can be found, we would entertain the submission of a Tier 1 license or an out-of-field permission request.
Demonstrated computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications such as Google Drive, Google Docs, and the calendar function.
Background with youth in teaching, advising, or advocacy capacities.
Ability to work well alone as well as with others.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to prioritize competing tasks.
Organizational skills.
Willingness to travel.

Our seat-based program (located in Crosslake, MN) serves students tuition-free in grades kindergarten - 8th as well as a fee-based prekindergarten program. Our tuition-free online program serves students from anywhere in Minnesota in grades kindergarten to graduation/age 21.
