Job Description

The K-5 Math Interventionist will provide quality instruction to students in Mathematics aligned with state and national standards. They will use a variety of formative assessment strategies to diagnose student understanding and plan appropriate differentiation strategies. The K-5 Math Interventionist will demonstrate knowledge of learning styles and implement lesson planning that reflects a diverse population. They will collaborate with co-workers to ensure quality integrated instruction across disciplines. The K-5 Math Interventionist reports to the Academic Director.

Essential Functions:
-Teach and conduct math interventions to elementary students
-Provide direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math services in individual, and/or small group settings
-Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction.
-Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere and classroom environment.
-Tailors instruction to address students identified needs, guiding them towards achieving the district’s math content standards.
-Set clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects based on formal and informal assessment data from students.
-Utilizes a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to reinforce content standards and cater to the needs and abilities of individual students or groups.
-Evaluate students academic and social growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
-Communicate with parents to discuss students progress and interpret the school program.
-Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff to assess and help students.
-Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day as needed.
-Maintain professional competence through professional development activities.
-Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
-Participate in faculty committees and sponsor student activities as needed.
-Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

-Hold a MN teaching license in the appropriate subject matter and age group
-Have comprehensive knowledge of teaching and learning secondary mathematics
-Have knowledge of best practices, instructional strategies, classroom management and behavior management
-Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, students, and families
-Demonstrate respect for children, colleagues, parents and school leadership
-Can establish rapport and trusting relationships with people from diverse identities and cultural backgrounds
-Has the ability to build deep understanding of data and implement strategies for classroom data integration
-Having knowledge of Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) is a plus
-Believe in and support the vision and mission of PSA
