Social Studies Teacher

Job Description

Grade 5-8 teachers develop curriculum and materials using engaging and age-appropriate instructional strategies based on the best practices of Art & Science integration; infuse art and science into the curriculum on a continual basis; incorporate hands-on learning activities into daily instruction; communicate closely and encourage parental involvement regarding program goals, classroom activities, homework, student progress; create a safe and welcoming classroom environment using best practices of Developmental Designs and Responsive Classroom for Middle School; collaborate with other teachers or administrators regarding their teaching; maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends, procedures and evaluation processes; participate in regular planning and staff development; and participate in professional development deemed important to the school and/or to individual teachers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
Valid Minnesota Teaching License applicable to the assignment area and grade level.

Institution Description

ASA is a public charter school that is tuition free and serves students K-8. The main emphasis at ASA are students who have a particular interest in the arts and sciences. All students at ASA participate in art, music, and theater as part of our program.

Art and Science Academy is located in Isanti, Minnesota. Isanti is 45 minutes north of Minneapolis-St. Paul that offers a small town feel with nearby big city amenities. ASA opened its doors in 2014 with a single K-6 school that served 160 students, and now serves approximately 350 students in grades K-8 on two campuses (K-4 and 5-8).
