Job Description

At Lakes International Language Academy, an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP), the School Counselor will be responsible for various roles that support our students’ social-emotional health and academic success. 

Provide Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services (ADSIS) Behavior services to students:

Provide direct instructional interventions for students who qualify students for ADSIS Behavior Interventions, manage the data about students for whom intervention is provided, and collaborate with teachers and parents.

-Submit records in compliance with district and state guidelines.
-Provide academic counseling services to students:
-Help with academic or class-related challenges.
-Assist students with registration.
-Facilitate our Intervention Support Team Meeting - Bi-weekly.
-Coordinate our 504 processes.

Provide services and information to parents which would include:

-Contact parents regarding their student's academic challenges and responding to parent inquiries.
-Participate in evening information sessions.
-Work with the IB coordinators to plan and carry out parent information meetings to explain phases of the IB program.
-Provide assistance referrals 

Provide assistance to staff concerning student problems, including:

Help resolve student attendance issues.
Assist the administration with re-admission conferences.
Confer with students referred by staff or administration.
Conduct and participate in inservice training.
Provide services to the successful operation of the school process including:
Serve on school committees.
Chaperone school events.
Assist in any situation needed to encourage a healthy school environment.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

-Must have a valid Minnesota School Counselor License
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education or related field

 

Preferred Qualifications:

-Teaching experience at the age level of the open position is preferred.
-Knowledge of IB MYP and DP.
-Knowledge of Infinite Campus.
