Job Description
Hiawatha Leadership Academy - Northrop seeks a dedicated 2nd Grade teacher and teammate to join our team for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
Job Summary
2nd grade teachers are responsible for providing rigorous, standards-based, and highly engaging learning environments for their scholars. Teachers will strive to ensure that all Hiawatha Academies scholars are empowered with the knowledge, character and leadership skills to graduate from college and serve the common good. 2nd Grade teachers will work alongside grade level teammates, special education teachers, specialist teachers, and under the guidance of the campus leadership team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Valid Minnesota teaching license in content area (or ability to gain before start date)
Growth mindset for students, self, and other adults
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with colleagues, students, and families
A commitment to racial equity and social justice
Prospective applicants must demonstrate a clear record of achieving significant gains with their students, and have a strong belief that they can help close the opportunity gap for all
Highly Preferred:
2+ years of experience teaching in a high-need school with demonstrated student results
Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish and/or Somali preferred)

Hiawatha Employment Logistics
Hiawatha Leadership Academy students’ school day is from 7:45am-2:45pm, Monday-Thursday and 7:45am-1:00pm on Friday.
Staff must be present from 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday, or until all duties are completed for the next day.
Professional development sessions are held each Friday from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
All Hiawatha Staff are expected to attend and participate in all family events at the school.
