Job Description
The overall purpose of the Licensed Content Facilitator is to implement/ teach curriculum in support of the Education Program for HSRA in collaboration and consultation with the Assistant Director of Educational Programing, the Education Institutional and Effectiveness Director, and Special Education Department.
Job Responsibilities:
Student Progress
Monitor student progress with regular check-in meetings.
Maintain awareness of a student's status regarding all state testing, graduation requirements and guide them towards learning opportunities that will address deficits and goals.
Track student progress with the NWEA MAP Test.
Project Based Learning
Ensure that each student that you are on their project team has meaningful high quality projects that support their learning and development.
Ensure that all project proposals are complete and aligned to state standards in your area of expertise for students who are doing projects with you
Student Relationships
Build caring, mentoring relationships with all students you work with.
Understand how to avoid and resolve conflicts.
Content Area Specialist
Design curriculum in your area of expertise to help students meet credit/validation requirements.
On an interest and/or as needed basis and upon consultation with the Education Director, facilitate workshops and create self-guided packets.
Co-facilitate a DLA and Concentrated Math.
Act as a validator in your content area.
Administration
Enter credits for classes, packets, projects, community service, etc. in a timely manner in your licensed areas.
Help administer NWEA tests, MCA tests, school surveys and other tasks as necessary.
Parent Contact
Contact parents for periodic status reports.
Do home visits
Advisory Teamwork/Relationships
Participate in Community Meeting, Access Pass, Student of the Week, Touch Back, Quiet Reading, field trips, etc.
Create a supportive and encouraging work environment for all staff
Share best practices, knowledge, templates, etc.
Supervise interns where appropriate
Other Activities
Serve on a school committee or perform some additional activities or tasks beyond the regular role of an advisor
Participate in grants projects undertaken by HSRA as appropriate
Develop community contacts in your content area
Must be prepared to do whatever other tasks that may need to be done
Management Responsibilities OR Key Relationships:
As a member of the HSRA staff the Facilitator is expected to contribute to the success of HSRA as a whole. The Facilitator reports to the Education Director. The Facilitator is an educational broker and collaborates with the HSRA staff, students, parents and community to ensure that the students are achieving success.
Job Requirements:
The Facilitator is a mentor, helper, guide, counselor, appraiser, record keeper, expediter, and arranger. They help the student grow in all areas--intellectual, social, physical, etc.,--and to develop talents and uniqueness.
The Facilitator is a specialist in the growth and development of youth and teens and young adults who themselves may be parents. It is the Facilitator's task to think hard about each student and to develop with the best possible approaches for fostering the student's full potential.
Facilitators must have the ability to work with a diversity of individuals and or groups,
Facilitators must be able to create action plans and exercise independent problem solving skills.
Facilitators must be able to meet deadlines and schedules, provide direction and leadership, and work with detailed information and frequent interruptions.
Facilitators must have excellent communication, listening and organizational skills
Facilitators must foster a team environment and cultivate teamwork.
Facilitators must be willing to respond appropriately and promptly to staff concerns related to student behavior.
Must be dependable, dedicated to school mission and vision and success.
Must be willing to work with diverse student populations and staff and promote an environment of respect, cultural inclusion and equity of all students and staff and maintain a professional demeanor.
Must be adaptive and flexible and willing to take on other duties as assigned by the Program Director
Ability to handle and maintain confidential information regarding students, staff, parents etc.
Meet’s HSRA standards for employee performance and attendance.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Have a Bachelor's degree or higher in your field of study and be a licensed teacher or working through the tier system to become licensed.
Demonstrates performance of standard English (written and or oral) and Mathematics.
Prior successful experience in urban, multicultural education is desirable.
Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration, and or job-embedded staff development.
Working knowledge of subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as student learning styles and needs, both academics and affective.
