Job Description

K-8 Electives Teacher

We are seeking an electives teacher who is passionate about their subject and who is excited to share it with our students! In the past we have had electives classes in Dance, Foreign Language, Coding, Cooking, Sewing, and Theater. We are looking for someone who can partner with us to create a unique learning experience for our students.
Primary Responsibilities:

Planning and Instruction

· Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency with subject matter

· Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning

· Plans and delivers instruction for a variety of learners

· Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment

· Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.

· Understands and uses assessment to promote student learning

· Ability to teach in an outdoor setting and to use the environment as an integrating context for learning

Classroom Environment

· Creates an environment that promotes respect, rapport, and learning

· Establishes effective relationships with students

· Communicates clear and consistent expectations for learning, behavior, and achievement

· Monitors and manages student behavior effectively

Communication

· Communicates effectively with families, students, and colleagues

· Communicates student progress in a timely and thorough manner

· Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills

Professional Responsibility

· Supports the mission and values of the school

· Supports the programs and priorities of the department and school

· Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with faculty, students, and parents

· Maintains confidentiality

· Demonstrates professional behavior

· Seeks and develops opportunities for professional growth

· Attends and participates in required meetings, school events, and committee work

· Performs duties as required/requested

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have teaching experience. Career changers or applicants new to the field are encouraged to apply!

This position is open for the 2024-2025 school year.
Required

· B.A/ B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution OR a degree in the field of instruction with the ability to apply for initial licensure.

· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

· Highly organized and punctual

· High degree of flexibility

· Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment

· Experience with using technology in teaching and learning

· Skill in using positive, constructive disciplinary approaches

· Familiarity with current teaching and learning theories

Highly Preferred

· Experience working in historically educationally underserved communities

· Project based or environmental education teaching experience

· Minnesota State certification in teaching appropriate subject area

Compensation

In order to establish equitable salary practices; the compensation package is derived from the CRSS pay scale and benefits package, which includes medical, dental, life, long-term disability, and retirement benefits as well as an annual salary review and revision.
