Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing
educational benefits for students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Collaborate with case managers, classroom teams, and support services to ensure student needs
are being met.
● Assist in the planning and implementation of the students’ daily programs under the direction of
the Supervisor, case manager, and classroom teacher.
● Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment including-but-not-limited-to preparing
needed materials and supplies for your assigned student or classroom.
● Observe, record, and collect data on behavior and specific IEP goals.
● Assist in student organizational needs.
● Support student sensory regulation needs.
● Provide physical assistance to students in areas of daily living; such as toileting and/or feeding.
● Intervene as necessary to redirect the student's target behavior and de-escalate behavior that
puts the student or other person at risk of injury.
● Consistently implement safety expectations, including correct use of PPE (personal protective
equipment) and safety protocols and procedures.
● Participate in staff meetings, training programs and/or conferences designed to promote
professional development.
● Maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff and student families.
● Maintain and use positive, professional written communication with all individuals.
● Supervise activities to ensure safety.
● Regular, prompt attendance.
OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
● High school degree or equivalent
● Ability to operate a computer and the software necessary to complete the required job tasks
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● 2 year degree or a minimum of 60 college credits OR successful completion of the ParaPro exam
● Knowledge and experience working with students on the autism spectrum and low incidence
disabilities
● One year previous experience in a middle school or high school setting
● Valid driver’s license/ability to transport students via school vehicle (must have 3 or less moving
violations in the last three years and no DWI/DUI convictions within the past 5 years).
● Knowledge and experience working with Google Apps
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above, in
addition to the following:
1. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and sit.
2. The employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to
use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with
hands and arms; climb steps; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability
to adjust focus.
3. Employee is occasionally required to drive.
4. Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may
involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5
to 10 pounds).
5. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
6. Noise level is that of a typical school or office setting.
