Job Description
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-General knowledge of the practices of a school.
-Ability to keep records of work performed.
-Knowledge of basic computer skills.
-Ability to deal effectively with students and teachers.
-Ability to build positive relationships with students.
-Ability to be flexible and quickly adjust to changes in student needs.
-Ability to take initiation in completion of responsibilities.
-Ability to maintain a growth mindset.
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, associates, administration and the general public.
-Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
Job Summary:
-Implement interventions for struggling learners in their academic growth of reading and/or math.
-Support classroom teachers with literacy assessments.
-Keep records of learning activities and monitor progress through data collection.
-Foster a collaborative relationship with classroom teachers to discuss students’ goals, strategies, and growth.
-Meet regularly with the Basic Skills Coordinator to discuss teaching strategies and student growth.
-Participate in in-service training programs, as assigned.
-Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Basic Skills Coordinator or Building Principal.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Experience working with school aged children
-High proficiency in the Spanish language required.
Physical Requirements:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; moving student desks or tables; work regularly requires standing and speaking or hearing, frequently requires walking and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and occasionally requires sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
