Job Description

Job Summary
• School Director provides leadership and supervision for all academic program staff and manages day to day operation of the school. Manages instruction, academic program planning, curriculum, professional development, behavior and parent concerns. School Director reports to the Stonebridge board of directors and works in tandem with Finance Admin Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coordination of Academic Program
• Coordinate the design and implementation of curriculum, instructional strategies and teacher support programs to promote student achievement gains.
• Oversee and implement continuous improvement of the academic programs that will lead to student achievement.
• Ensures date driven assessments are effective and the results or those assessments are utilized by teachers to improve student learning.
• Coordinate and participate in teacher observation, evaluation and feedback process to ensure it is functioning effectively and enhancing student learning.
• Plan and present staff training and professional development to ensure training is utilized in classroom, improves student learning, meets program goals and builds a highly trained teaching and paraprofessional staff.
• Ensure staff are implementing Responsive Classroom, Restorative Practices, Turnaround Arts program, global units, service learning and curriculum.
• Participate in day-to-day school activities with students (events, assemblies) and make regular classroom walkthrough visits in all classrooms.
• Plan and implement PLC’s ensuring teachers are able to implement strategies and use student data to effectively increase academic achievement.
• Lead School Leadership Team (ILT) weekly to develop planning and implementation of evidence based practices.

Administration
• Work with behavior staff to ensure daily behavior issues/suspensions are addressed appropriately and restorative practices is being fully implemented.
• Handle unresolved complaints coming into the school from parents and/or community regarding student issues, bus problems and other issues.
• Ensure requirements of Special Ed, Title I and other programs are met.
• Ensure the school is in compliance with all Minnesota Department of Education requirements, Fair Pupil Dismissal Act, Maltreatment of Minnesota Reporting Act.
• Work with Finance Admin Director on annual program budget, ongoing review of expenses, MDE program reports and authorizer annual report/goals.
• Work with designated staff on attendance protocols, behavior meetings, bus procedures, class lists, arts leadership to ensure effective implementation.
• Manage the purchase and inventory of all furniture, equipment, technology and supplies related to school needs.
• Plan and coordinate all school schedules, calendars, field trips, in- school programs, fire drills, tornado & lockdown drills.
• Develop and implement all surveys (staff, parent, student) and review and revise student report cards annually.
• Coordinate parent advisory meetings during school year and American Indian Parent Advisory Committee meetings.
• Oversee staff curriculum committee developing a plan for curriculum review and when completed make recommendations to board of directors.

Staffing and Supervision
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate all program related school personnel.
• Oversee Special Education to ensure program goals and staffing needs are met.
• Oversee ELL program to ensure annual program plan is updated, program goals are met, and students are getting identified service hours.
• Coordinate staff meetings and committee system, staff monthly data meetings.
• Work with SAT Committee to ensure process is effectively implemented.
• Work with behavior support staff to ensure behavior and support goals are implemented according to school protocols and MDE requirements.
• Work with DAC to ensure assessments are completed meeting district and state standards and teachers understand test protocols.

Governance
• Report to school board of directors and ensure they are informed on school operations, programs and academic strategies and results.
• Assist with recruitment of new board members including parent board member.
• Work with assigned MDE school advocate.
• Meet with Finance Admin Director twice a month to ensure seamless day to day school operation is in place. Review annual budget, polices, school plans, authorizer goals and strategic planning to ensure effective implementation.
• Annually implement program goals corresponding to the current school mission/vision as outlined by strategic plan.
• Review current educational research and understand new trends in education.
Public Relations and Outreach
• Build parent involvement through parent groups and good communication.
• Be the face of the school ensuring a positive public image while representing the school to parents, community organizations and media.
• Represent the concerns of the school to legislators and other policy makers.
• Ensure all parent monthly events are well planned and implemented.
• Communicate and reinforce Stonebridge mission, vision and goals with all staff that inspires them to strive for excellence in themselves and with students.

Qualifications

Qualifications
• Master’s degree in related field with 5 +years teaching experience.
• Hold an administrative licensure or be willing to pursue required license.
• 5+ years of general management and leadership experience, strategic planning.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• An understanding of school administration, operations and finance.
• Experience in board relations, staff hiring and supervision.
• Demonstrates resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding strategic planning.
• Good understanding of climate in education and charter schools.
• Understanding and commitment to the organization’s vision and mission
