Job Description

Educates, teaches, facilitates, evaluates and plans lessons for the students of Metro Deaf School as defined by the Metro Deaf School District Policy Manual and the Minnesota Department of Education rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Deaf Education; ability to obtain a Minnesota Teaching License required
Native-user or fluency in American Sign Language required
Knowledge of Bilingual Education
Competency with instructional strategies
Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to teach American Sign Language.
Must be able to work with staff and students of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds
Ability to work collaboratively
Knowledge of IEPs and assessments
Knowledge of various learning styles and strategies for diverse learners

Institution Description

Metro Deaf School is a public charter school serving Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing children Birth to 22 years old. Metro Deaf School promotes academic excellence and social wellbeing for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing students using an ASL/English bilingual approach. The primary purpose is to empower our students to develop the skills and knowledge to succeed as global citizens.
