Job Description

Job Title : Occupational Therapist
Reports To : Executive Director, Special Education Director
Supervises : N/A
Status : Full-time. All positions are Monday through Thursday, year-round with staff development on occasional Fridays and breaks throughout the year.


Effective for 2025-2026 School Year
Position Summary:
The Mission of Spero Academy is to provide an individualized and adaptive education to help students grow academically, emotionally and socially.
We are a nonprofit charter school that is devoted to educational programs for students with disabilities that foster a sense of respect, responsibility and community. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is eager to work with elementary students who are on the autistic spectrum or who may have other social, emotional and physical disabilities. We are looking for someone who can be creative and meet individual needs while continuing to balance all state educational requirements for students with an IEP
Minimum Qualifications Required:
● Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy or Bachelor’s Degree and clinical experience
What You Will Do:
● Ensure you are contributing your part for Spero Academy’s due process compliance, third-party billing, program data collection, and funding reports.
● Lead weekly classroom regulation groups.
● Prepare for and instruct students for individualized sessions.
● Work with teachers by providing support at handwriting and reading stations in the classroom. ● Provide direct intervention services to students in the least restrictive environment and this will include classroom-based service.
● Provide indirect intervention and consultative services to teachers and school staff. ● Plan and direct or prepare biweekly updates to sensory motor or Stimulating Maturity through Accelerated Readiness Training (S.M.A.R.T.) circuit to target developmental skills that support academic
growth.
● Other site-based and special education duties, including staff training on sensory supports, regulation, and visual motor skills, including but not limited to, handwriting supports
● Promote play and development of problem solving skills.

● Previous experience working with children Autism Spectrum Disorders
● Previous time working in an elementary school setting
● Skills with SpEdForms for
● IEPs, evaluations and MA Billing (due process)
