Mission
It is the mission of the Twin Cities International Schools to provide a rigorous education in a culturally sensitive environment. Founded by educational leaders in the East African community, this public charter school ultimately seeks to prepare students for successful and productive lives as United States citizens while allowing them to retain their unique cultural heritage.
History
The Twin Cities International Schools were formed in response to the East African community’s concern and frustrations with the local public school systems. East African’s are the fastest growing population in Minnesota, making it hard for large urban school districts to address the unique needs and challenges of this new community. TIES was founded by education leaders in the Metro communities with the goal of providing best-practice ESL instruction in an American school environment. The school opened in the fall of 2001 and continues to see much success with each passing year.
