At Lincoln International High School, their Working Group Leads collaborate with teachers and staff to evaluate, maintain, and improve the school’s curriculum and instruction, school climate and culture, and community engagement. These groups provide teachers and staff with unique leadership and professional development opportunities that cycle back into the school, increasing community engagement, buy-in, and understanding while addressing the ongoing needs of students, staff and families. Per the school’s director, the staff “believe in what they are doing” and move the school in the “right direction” through collaborative, continuous improvement work. Staff engagement and trust have increased, as has the school’s ability to meet the needs of its multicultural and multilingual community, and it provides unique leadership opportunities for new and newer teachers that fosters confidence and genuine programmatic buy-in.
