Minnesota New Country School - Creating New Opportunities for Professional Growth of Teachers
New Country School’s administrative processes are run entirely by the school’s faculty.
This teacher-led programming was created in order to eliminate the funding of dedicated administrative staff, which allows the school to distribute funds to create the most positive and well-rounded school environment to students and teachers.
The cohesion of this particular teacher-led school is further made possible by the requirement that each teacher, “sit on two administrative and one academic team.”
Each teacher plays a role on the teams that are best suited for their unique talents and skills and as a result full trust is put into these teams as subject-matter experts.
There is full buy-in of teacher-powered programming across the New Country community, which recognizes that, “teacher ownership allows for a natural path to advocacy for [their] staff.”
