Face to Face Academy - Different & Innovative Forms of Measuring Outcomes Image

Face to Face Academy has developed a more equitable measurement for graduation reate that moves away from the dependency of “last school of enrollment” and instead focuses on the amount of time spent in each school. The metric paints a more complete picture, but also is simple enough for any school to calculate since it incorporates Average Daily Membership (ADM) as the basis for the formula. Most importantly, the metric addresses the major biases in the State’s graduation accountability system especially when applied to “Credit recovery” schools. The current measurement used by the State unfairly places a disproportional blame for “dropouts” on the very programs attempting to reengage the most marginalized youth.

Ultimately, the measurement can change the narrative that these vital schools are not failures, but in fact innovative educations settings making a significant impact on the lives of our most vulnerable students and families.
